A basin ledge crowded with bottles makes a small bathroom harder to clean. No drill bathroom shelves can move everyday toiletries onto the wall or door, but the mounting method matters more than the promise on the box. A shelf that sticks well to one smooth tile may be unsuitable for a painted wall, an uneven corner or a finish you cannot risk marking.

This guide covers shelving outside the shower in compact UK homes. For bottles inside the wet area, see our shower caddy guide. We have researched these products editorially; we have not tested them in a home or measured their holding strength.

Last updated: 14 October 2026. Each exact Amazon UK variant had a new, in-stock purchase offer with delivery to London SW1A 1AA when directly inspected today. Stock, sellers and delivery coverage can change. Price bands are broad editorial groupings, not live prices. The original header image illustrates generic shelf styling, not a recommended model or a tested load.

No drill bathroom shelves: quick picks by available space

Start with an allowed support and a manageable footprint. The figures below come from listings, not our measurements. Where a load or fitting detail is missing, obtain it before ordering rather than treating the recommendation as a guaranteed fit.

The selected Black, 40CM, two-pack gives you two separate aluminium ledges. Its shallow 12cm listed depth may suit a wall above or beside the basin where a deeper basket would project into the room. Mark the outline first and leave enough height to pick up bottles without hitting the shelf above.

The supplied mounting options include adhesive and screws. For a no-drill installation, confirm which surfaces the adhesive method permits and follow that method’s manual. The title says 5kg, while the bullets and safety text say 10kg without establishing an adhesive-specific limit. We cannot responsibly present either figure as the verified no-drill capacity. The listing also claims rust resistance; we have not assessed its lifespan in a humid bathroom. This is a conditional pick for ledge space, with load and removal information to resolve before buying.

The White, 30cm, two-pack uses full-back adhesive, listed as 297 × 97mm. It offers a shorter alternative to the HNVNER pair for a narrow stretch of smooth tiles. The listed external size is 30W × 10D × 10H cm; check the usable shelf space if a particular container must fit.

Toski’s title and bullets describe acrylic, but the summary material field says “Glass Wood”. That inconsistency needs supplier confirmation. Its bullets claim 5kg on suitable smooth surfaces, including ceramic tiles, glass and smooth wooden boards. This is a listing claim, not evidence of performance on your wall, and the per-shelf allocation should be confirmed. We did not establish a dependable removal procedure or waiting period. Full-back adhesive is a commitment: choose it only after checking both installation and eventual removal.

The selected Gunmetal Grey two-pack uses suction cups and is described as anodised aluminium. Although marketed as a shower caddy, the listing also permits bathroom storage; here its purpose is a smooth tiled corner outside the shower, for everyday toiletries beside the basin. Its raised edges offer a different layout from a flat ledge.

The listing gives 22W × 22D × 6.8H cm. It requires smooth, non-porous surfaces and excludes uneven, textured, waxed or oil-treated tiles. Confirm that both walls and the corner geometry work with the exact cups. The bullets claim up to 10kg total and reusable suction cups, but do not establish a clear per-shelf allocation. Follow the supplied mounting checks, and stop using a shelf if its seal loosens. “Removable” is useful for cleaning, but is not our guarantee of damage-free use on every finish.

This matte Grey metal rack has one top shelf and five hooks, with a listed external size of 43W × 10D × 28H cm. It uses the bathroom door rather than adhesive on the tiles. The Amazon brand field is Generic; the product-details table identifies Hayyat as manufacturer and HAYYAT09 as model. Those are the identity details for this exact ASIN, not evidence of a separate branded range.

Neither a hook opening, supported door-thickness range nor maximum load was established. Ask for those figures before buying. The listing mentions 12cm wall clearance, but this does not replace measuring the full door swing and actual stand-off. Check the space above the door, hinges and handle, and ensure the rack cannot strike a wall, mirror or person. A door shelf suits a confirmed fitting; it is a poor choice if the door must be forced shut or cannot latch freely.

Adhesive shelves: which surfaces do they suit?

Read the instructions for the exact adhesive system, not simply the shelf material. Smooth tile, rough tile, painted plaster, wallpaper and porous stone are different supports. A waterproof shelf does not establish that its adhesive suits every wet or humid surface.

Check that the whole mounting pad can contact an approved area without bridging grout or a curved edge. Prepare it only as directed, and observe the stated waiting period before loading. The selected Toski listing names smooth surfaces; HNVNER’s precise no-drill surface list needs confirmation. Do not transfer Toski’s instructions or another brand’s curing time to HNVNER.

Suction is an alternative on compatible smooth surfaces, with different restrictions. Lekesky excludes several tile treatments as well as texture. If you cannot identify the finish or confirm compatibility, use a different storage location. Bathroom humidity, cleaning residues, surface condition and repeated use vary between homes; no universal holding life follows from these listings.

For rental planning beyond the bathroom, our no-drill hallway storage guide explains why permission and removal still matter.

Tension-pole shelving and over-toilet units

A tension arrangement needs an approved span, suitable contact points and the exact model’s height range. Check the manual before pressing a pole against a ceiling or bath edge. Adjustable height alone does not establish that a suspended ceiling, sloping surface or fragile finish can support it. No specific tension model is recommended here.

Over-toilet frames can provide more storage than a small shelf. Measure the cistern, flush-button access, pipework, lid clearance and space for cleaning. A freestanding frame may still require an anti-tip fixing, so check that requirement before assuming it is a no-drill solution. See our dedicated over-toilet storage guide for researched options; we do not re-review those units here.

If wall mounting is unsuitable, a slim bathroom cabinet may offer enclosed storage, subject to its own moisture and restraint requirements.

Over-door and over-cistern options

For a door rack, measure door thickness, top clearance and the space behind it when open. A rack must allow normal closing and latching. Check whether protective pads are supplied and suitable for the finish; do not assume padding prevents every mark. Place items so movement of the door cannot spill them.

An over-cistern shelf needs a compatible cistern shape and must preserve access to the flush and lid. Do not use a cistern cover as an improvised mounting point. We have not verified a specific over-cistern recommendation for this guide. A basket that hangs over a shower screen has different fitting requirements from an internal-door shelf and should not be substituted casually.

Weight limits: what should you put on them?

Keep the shelf for a small selection of everyday items and store bulk refills elsewhere. Work from the verified capacity of the whole no-drill mounting system, including the shelf’s own weight where the instructions require it. A screw rating is not an adhesive rating, and adding extra pads does not create a higher approved capacity.

HNVNER’s conflicting figures and Hayyat’s missing rating need a supplier answer. Toski’s 5kg and Lekesky’s 10kg total are claims with allocation and installation details to confirm. Avoid heavy glass containers, valuable ornaments or anything whose fall would be dangerous while those questions remain unresolved. Inspect mounts as instructed, particularly after cleaning or accidental knocks.

Removing shelves without risking your deposit

Agree the proposed installation where needed, photograph the original finish and keep the packaging and manual. Before removal, empty and support the shelf, then follow its own instructions. Do not lever a metal edge against a tile or pull a full-back adhesive shelf straight off by force.

The two adhesive picks do not provide a sufficiently clear verified removal procedure for us to prescribe one. Ask the supplier before committing to them. Do not copy a heat, solvent or floss method from a different adhesive; it may be unsuitable for the finish or mounting system.

3M’s Command bathroom instructions describe slowly stretching its own removal tab straight down along the wall, rather than towards you. That applies to the specified Command system, not to these shelves. Its UK FAQ also specifies water-resistant products for glass shower doors. Neither source approves replacing a shelf’s supplied mount with ordinary picture strips. No-drill storage works best when you can explain how it will fit, hold and come away before you install it.
