Ironing
Full-size ironing boards assume a spare metre of floor you may not have. Compact boards, over-door setups and steamers are the realistic options — if you are honest about how often you actually iron.
Key buying considerations
Buy for the jobs you do weekly, not for a hotel-laundry fantasy.
Board size versus cupboard depth
Tabletop and folding boards only help if they fit the place they will live. Measure the cupboard, not the product photo.
Steamers are not a free upgrade
A steamer is faster for shirts hanging in a small bedroom. It is weaker on creased cotton and needs a safe place to rest while hot.
Heat and tiny rooms
Ironing in a bedroom with the window shut is another moisture source. If condensation is already a problem, ventilate while you work.
